Paula Slier is the South African journalist famously sidelined by former SABC news-editor Snuki Zikalala because he didn't want reports on the Middle East written by a Jew. She is currently based in Afghanistan reporting for Russia Today television.
Paula has started revealing the stories behind her reports at her blog called Newshound. I’ve started reading every post and it brilliantly reveals the thrilling but dangerous lifestyle that reporters in her position lead (in December a suicide bomber exploded right outside her hotel – Paula had left the hotel just forty minutes before the explosion).
Do yourself a favour and check into Newshound.biz.
oh yes her afganistan diery is amazing, but what is more-she is doing very important thing -she gives review of real life in this problematic region...

SABC ,s loss is Russia Today,s gain judging by Helen Zilles,s comment on blue light cowboys of the govt, who blatantly disregard public sentiment and drive as they like on public roads with their 8,9 vehicle Mugabe style convoys as i witnessed this past weekend in Centurion ,the Cope spokesperson got half a minute to comment on the speech by Helen Zille ,the ANC,s Lynne Brown got almost five minutes to whine ,typical dictatorship style about Zille wasting Parliament,s time etc.Paula Slier would have done much better than the guardian of the airwaves, journalist who wouldn,t or couldn,t press the issue with the ruling party whiner.
