For all my opposition to SAJBD policy, I must admit the line up is very very impressive. I wonder if this is the result of an increase in networking ability by the SAJBD or the more open Zuma government.

I would have liked to have seen a member of the opposition speaking at the conference too. Like Helen Zille.

Steve

I would have loved to see Helen Zille included. But make no mistake, having the President of South Africa at the SAJBD conference is a huge coup for the Board and we can only congratulate them for pulling it off.

Also, I am excited to see Cotler. He is very impressive. Its a star studded line up.

The Blacklisted Dictator

Mike and Steve,

On the one hand you have been criticizing The SAJBD for supporting The ANC, and on the other you get excited about the prospect of Mshini Wami attempting to read a speech at the forthcoming SAJBD conference.

It seems to me that you are both extremely confused.

I would pay to hear Cottler... but Mshini Wami?? Give us a break!

Mike

Anthony I personally dont care much for the man but he is still the president.

Gary

Whether we like it or not (and I don't like it!) Zuma was elected by the majority of South Africans, and considering that 78% of American Jews made the even more destructive choice of Barack Obama, can we really point fingers at SA voters for their choice?

Gary

What happened to my last post?

Gary

If American Jewish organizations can host Obama, I don't see the difference with the SAJBD hosting Zuma.

Charlie H. Ettinson

Cotler is always very interesting to listen to. I think he was the first person I ever heard clearly and logically articulate the idea of Jews being indigenous to Israel. It seems so obvious, but he expressed himself so well that it stuck out in my mind.

I was proud to work on his election campaign in Montreal.

Levi Eshkol

Whats wrong with Obama? According to statistics more than 70% of US Jewry voted Obama.

Gary

Yes, Levi Eshkol. that is a tragic and sickening sign of how American Jews have turned their backs on Israel.
