« In Defense of Nadav Tamir | Main | SAJBD Conference - Facing Forward 2009 »

I wonder who is Mr Ostroff's intended audience. Although he writes to Mr Kasrils, I don't imagine that his target will acknowledge the arguments he has made. I have never seen Mr Kasrils concede any sort of proof from anybody against his anti-Israel statements in any way, although admittedly I have not followed every correspondence in which he has been involved.

I therefore don't expect any change to be brought about in Mr Kasrils, and I think Mr Ostroff might agree, so I wonder what the point of his response is. Is it to get the counter-arguments 'out there', or to strengthen the resolve of Israel supporters against media bias? Then why is the letter addressed to Mr Kasrils?

I would have thought that Mr Kasrils would be better handled by resignedly ignoring him except for correcting his falsities in the media in which they were published.

Honestly, what is the purpose of this letter, valid and well-written as its content is?

Michael well put. The same thought crossed my mind as well. We dont really want to be stirring up a fight with Kasrils again.

Michael -

It may serve no better purpose than to leave an unanswered challenge to Mr. Kasril's venom. On occasion Kasril gets quoted - invariably his Jewish birth gets mentioned along with his pedigree in the anti-apartheid movement.
