The Smoking Socks Award: Holocaust figure of 6 million is a lie

I’ve stayed away from the letters pages of our Sunday newspapers for a while now and I think I’m better off for it. This week, however, I made the mistake of paging through the Sunday Independant and I came upon this piece of drek of a letter from AK Mia: Holocaust figure of six million is made up.

Worldwide it is accepted by all and sundry that more non-Jews than Jews perished from Nazi pogroms against non-Aryans in Europe. No accurate or reliable figures are available on the exact toll of deaths from Nazi atrocities but after years of trial and error the miraculous figure of 6 million Jewish dead (a figure sacrosanct to Jewish people and the West) was rammed down the world's throat and, as if this was not enough, it is now considered blasphemous vis-a-vis Jews and even criminal in many European quarters ( France, Germany, Poland, Austria and the Netherlands ) and Israel - all places where freedom of speech/expression is entrenched into law to raise even the most innocuous question on the authenticity of the miraculous figure. Does the spectre of a university lecturer in France being axed from his post for daring to offer an alternative view on 9/11 that it was a joint US/Israeli operation and not a Muslim one - as conventional wisdom will have us believe - now introduce a new technique in the battle to win over minds and hearts by disseminating only the material we want the world to hear and read about and shutting up all dissenting voices by any means fair or foul? And this not in a banana republic or Third World countries with tin-pot rulers. Small wonder that this new tactic is directed at saving face for Americans and Jews. AK Mia

Here’s a sterling response from Don Krausz, chairman of the Association of Holocaust Survivors in Johannesburg:

A.K.Mia’s letter of 8-3-09 headed “Holocaust figure of six million dead is made up” refers.

Why does he not deny the Holocaust in totality? Because when we Jews were either taken to the gas chambers or shot in situ by the Germans and their collaborators, a few hundred thousand survived. It was not the figure of Six Million that was miraculous as Mia states, but that there were any survivors at all. Those survivors tended to return to their previous homes in the usually forlorn hope that members of their family would do the same. When hardly anyone else came back they were left with the question: WHERE ARE THOSE PEOPLE?

How does one arrive at Six Million? The vast majority of victims came from Europe. There they would have had to participate in periodic census takings, listing their religion. A village that had housed a Jewish population of, say, 60%, would be without Jews next time the census came around. Where were all the Jews? The locals would be able to direct the census officials to nearby mass graves.

How would one corroborate the statements of the villagers? Germans are very methodical people and would provide headquarters with the statistics of those murdered. That documentation is open for inspection to this day.

I am sure that the above cannot be too complicated for A.K.Mia to understand.

Why would countries such as France, Germany, Poland, Austria, the Netherlands and Israel legislate that denial of the Holocaust or aspects thereof was a criminal offence?

Because the perpetrators were recognised as criminals and those that supported the atrocities by denying them or aspects thereof ipso facto had to be of a criminal disposition as well.

The Holocaust is recognised the world over for the atrocity that it was. Why should the A.K.Mias of this world express doubts about it? The answer may lie in the previous paragraph.

When a university lecturer in France loses his job for opining that 9/11 was a joint US/Israeli operation and Mia quotes this individual in support of his fantasies then I begin to understand the legislation against such hate-driven lies.

It is funny how the Muslim community, spearheaded by Mahmud in Iran run a dual track of anti-Zionism and Holocaust denial. Both are anti-semitic in essence. The reason why Muslims have taken to such conspiracy theories with vigor is because the version of a victim Jew does not fit their definition of a Zionist Machine. When dealing with such a huge calamity of mankind, they don't know how to empathise with their enemies so why not just label the whole thing as a hoax?

Similarly, with 9/11 (although I would never compare it to the Holocaust) Muslims could not take responsibility for the evil behind it so their only rationale is to create Muslims as the victims of Islamophobia and the true villains behind 9/11 as the Zionist machine.

There is a more sinister and superficially more sophisticated tack re 9-11, that is admitting that Muslim extremists carried out the attack, but then saying they only carried it out because of US foreign policy ie support for Israel. In other words if it wasn't for Israel, Muslim extremists would not have felt impelled to carry out 9-11. This kind of idiotic, absurd and deranged anti-Semitic argument is held disturbingly widely among the Western Left (and the extreme Right), especially in Europe and the UK. But also in North America and of course in SA.

It is this latter kind of anti-Semitism that is really frightening and is just beneath the radar, and represented by the John Pilger and M&G school of journalism, with its avid readership. This is what we need to keep in mind.

Where can I find this documentation that suggests 6 million Jews vanished? Why was the number reduced from 4.4 million to 1.1 at Auschwitz? Why did that have no bearing on the overall figure?
Why did not a single one of those sick, inhuman Nazis take even ONE picture of a single Jew actually being gassed? How come? Maybe becuase its a fable just like the soap and lampshades? Perhaps its a blatant lie just like the countless books and survivor stories that have unraveled faster than a loose ball of yarn?
Where is the documentation source that depicts 6 million missing? I will actually read it all.

I'd suggest a library; German, Polish and Russian archives; and perhaps a bookstore Ryan. There you can find the answers to all your questions.

There are also pictures and historical documents available at the Auschwitz-Birkenau website. I am not going to browse for the pictures of people being gassed. There are pictures of the gas chambers though.

I am curious though. Where do you get your information and numbers from?

Re: Ryan and questions of gas, there is quote from the well document and recorded at Nuremberg:

Another improvement we made over Treblinka was that we built our gas chambers to accommodate 2,000 people at one time, whereas at Treblinka their 10 gas chambers only accommodated 200 people each. The way we selected our victims was as follows: we had two SS doctors on duty at Auschwitz to examine the incoming transports of prisoners. The prisoners would be marched by one of the doctors who would make spot decisions as they walked by. Those who were fit for work were sent into the Camp. Others were sent immediately to the extermination plants. Children of tender years were invariably exterminated, since by reason of their youth they were unable to work. Still another improvement we made over Treblinka was that at Treblinka the victims almost always knew that they were to be exterminated and at Auschwitz we endeavored to fool the victims into thinking that they were to go through a delousing process. Of course, frequently they realized our true intentions and we sometimes had riots and difficulties due to that fact. Very frequently women would hide their children under the clothes but of course when we found them we would send the children in to be exterminated. We were required to carry out these exterminations in secrecy but of course the foul and nauseating stench from the continuous burning of bodies permeated the entire area and all of the people living in the surrounding communities knew that exterminations were going on at Auschwitz.

Ryan, why don't you take a trip to Poland. I suggest in particular a lovely little town called Lublin, where there sits just on its outskirts a holiday village by the name of Majdanek.
Go take a look at the wonderful German ash collection of the approximately 800 000 people that were systematically gassed and cremated there. The pile of ashes is still there, with human bones clearly visible in the pile.
A simple google search I'm certain will provide you with adequate photographic EVIDENCE of what you seek.

Typo in previous post... 800 000 was meant to be 80 000.
Majdanek was one of the smallest of the death camps, and happens to be the most well preserved as the Nazis did not get ample opportunity to destroy their handiwork.

The thing is with characters like Ryan, facts and evidence have nothing to do with what they want to believe.
