I was recently chatting to a friend of mine about the US elections and we got to speaking about Barak Obama. Jokingly I relayed the old one about the journalist interviewing Chelsea Clinton who told her “Chelsea, there are three dangers facing America. Osama, Obama, and yo’ mama!”
My friend liked the joke and then forwarded me an infamous hoax email about Obama being a ‘radical Muslim’ (this being the second time that I had actually received this email). The email is entitled ‘Who is Barack Obama?’
Please, if you receive this email, do not forward it on. It is a hoax and only serves to fan the flames of prejudice. For a thorough debunking visit Snopes: - Who is Barak Obama.
Some highlights:
- Barak Obama is not a radical Muslim. In fact he isn’t even Muslim. He is Christian and is a member of the Trinity United Church of Christ.
- Barak Obama does not refuse to recite the US Pledge of Allegiance
- Barak Obama did not attend a radical Muslim school. He attended a majority Muslim school.
- Barak Obama did not use the Koran instead of the Bible when he was sworn into public office.
I am not an Obama fan. His politics are too left for me. But please, let’s not judge him purely on his name!
Healthy research would be looking into the mission statement of his church and his favourite preacher.

I am really praying that Hillary Clinton wins the Democratic nomination.
Obama has never said anything in solidarity with Israel, and he says that he will talk to criminal regimes like Iran, Syria and North Korea without any conditions.
Israel is screwed if Obama comes in, even if he is a Christian.

Well, I don't care for a debate about whether he is or not good for Israel, but he has definitely made pro-Israel statements.
Still, its interesting to note that Joe Lieberman is not backing any Democrat - he is backing John McCain.
From Haaretz:
"Our job is to rebuild the road to real peace and lasting security throughout the region," Obama said during a speech to the American Israel Public Affairs Committee in Chicago. "Our job is to do more than lay out another road map."
"That effort begins with a clear and strong commitment to the security of Israel: Our strongest ally in the region and its only established democracy," he added. "That will always be my starting point."
In what may have been a veiled reference to reports of American opposition to Israeli negotations with Syria, Obama said: "We should never seek to dictate what is best for the Israelis and their security interests. No Israeli prime minister should ever feel dragged to or blocked from the negotiating table by the United States."
Hillel, I have read Pamela's post. Still, the contents of the email are a hoax.
If the statements about the preacher are true, well then its Christian anti-Semitism and not Islamic anti-Semitism. There may be many other prominent Americans who are members of problematic churches.
All I'm saying is that we shouldn't bash him just because his name is Barak Hussein Obama.

Hillel, I have seen that about his preacher but it does not justify the fake email. I am happy to expose Obama but in an honest way.

Mike, Steve, that was precisely my point. I in no way intended to justify the email.
I meant only to point out that there appears to be adequate information with which to besmirch Obama on his own merits without having to resort to falsehood.
In point of fact I find that type of email to be particularly insidious since it calls into question truth itself. There is no justification for lies of that sort whatsoever.
Why are you chaps beating on me?

77% of JPost online users have voted that Obama is indeed bad for Israel.
Personally I can't stand the guy.

Ha ha Hillel, you being a bit sensitive. Its not a conspiracy (Zionist or otherwise) I promise. The tone of your post suggested that you were supporting the email. Its was clearly a misunderstanding.

Actually, I thought my post was completely "tone neutral".
apparently I'm tone deaf ... dumb too.
Personally I wish some of the Zionist conspiracies were true - it sure would make the world seem a better place.

I really can't see an African American ever attaining the American presidency in my lifetime.

Let's face it, the e-mail it's the best thing in the world, now the old way of mailing things, are truly obsolete, the e-mail is way better than the old kind of mail, not just for their huge good & awesome new things, but, their technology, the easy way to use, and the ''world accesability'' thing, make the e-mail, the best communication way!!!
