In case you forgot what the 6 Day War was really about, here are some cartoons from the Arab press prior to the war, aptly illustrating the genocidal threat Israel faced.
Jewish skulls in the ruins of Tel Aviv. (al-Jundi al-'Arabia, Syria) |
Nasser, backed by Arab states, kicks Israel into the Gulf of Aqaba. (al-Jarida, Lebanon) |
Israel pierced by Egyptian, Syrian, Jordanian, Lebanese tanks. (al-Hayat, Lebanon) |
For a summary of the events that led to the 6 Day War, including some aggressive quotes from Arab leaders, read this summary that I wrote last year.
(All cartoons taken from Michael Oren's majestic account of the 6 Day War entitled Six Days of War.)
Interesting how the antisemites use similar imagery to show how brutal the Israeli "beast" is nowadays. I'm sure that there's someone who'd argue that Israel's enemies are projecting.
