Arab in general and Palestinian in particular affinity for Hitler and the Nazis is one of the most unknown aspects of the conflict.

The Mufti of Jerusalem, the father of Palestinian nationalism sat in Hitler’s war cabinet. In a famous letter he once complained that the Nazi’s killing machine was not working fast enough. That picture of Hilter and the Mufti on the PMW website shatters the myth that anti-Zionism does not equal anti-Semitism.

But National Socialism continued in the Arab world long after the demise of the Nazis. Bernard Lewis, the famous Arabist, make the point that the only Western ideologies the Arab world adopted was a virulent mix of nationalism and socialism which resulted in the bastard child of Baathism. Syria today is still run by a Baathist regime.
