MRN Condemns Massacre of 29 Shiite Muslims
Iqbal Jassat of the Media Review Network (Tshwane based Palestestinian advocacy group) has condemned the massacre of Shiite Muslims that took place on the Holiest of Islamic days, ridding the MRN of the hypocrisy label which many have attached to the group. Jassat has spoken out for the first time against the intolerance of certain Sunni Muslims who refuse to respect the religious beliefs of their Shiite counterparts. Jassat described the massacre as a mini Holocaust and called Al Qaeda leader in Iraq Abu Musab al Zarqawi a war criminal and a coward for declaring war againt Shiite Muslims. Jassat explained that differences between Sunnis and Shiites are rooted in a controversy that erupted in the very earliest days of Islam, over who should succeed Mohammed after his death in 632AD. Sunnis, a majority of Muslims worldwide and in Pakistan, regard Abu Bakr, one of Mohammed’s companions, as his successor, while Shiites revere Ali, the prophet’s son-in-law and cousin. Jassat called for unity across Islam and said that until these massacres stop Islamic leaders have no right to criticise other nations for their intolerance. “First we need to gain the higher moral ground” Jassat said. |
Just kidding. (The above is a parody and not meant to be taken seriously. No prophets or gods were harmed in the creation of this parody.)
