More on the utterly crazy South African stance toward the Nuclear Iran problem. The Mercury reports that South Africa has slammed the weekend decision taken by the IAEA which could lead to Iran being brought before the UN Security Council.
South Africa was one of 12 states on the 35 member IAEA board which abstained from the vote. 22 States voted for the decision, with Venezuela voting No.
South Africa's foremost disarmament official, Abdul Minty, explained that the South African abstention was tantamount to a resounding NO.
In an interview yesterday, he said that in the context of the IAEA and this issue, abstention was tantamount "to a powerful no", expressing opposition to all elements of the resolution. Minty said his fear now was that Iran would terminate negotiations with the IAEA, which had so far made significant progress in talks with Iran over its nuclear programme. |
Meanwhile Time magazine recently interviewed Iran's new President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. During the interview Ahmadinejad hinted that the nuclear fiasco was all driven by Israel. Well, I lie, he actually still can't bring himself to say the word Israel, instead referring to them as the occupiers of Jerusalem. The interview revealed some telling information about Ahmadinejad.
(Time)When you were mayor of Tehran, you used to take your lunch to the office in a bag. Do you still do this? (Ahmadinejad)That continues. Is there a problem with that? What's wrong if you want to eat the food that your wife has cooked? |
What the ...?
