It is a metaphorical look at the harsh realities of women's lives in radical forms of Islam. Some could say it is an attack on religion in and of itself.

The film-maker is dead. He was recently murdered by an extremist Muslim of Dutch-Morrocan descent. The current theory is that he was taken down for his critical look at the treatment of Muslim women.
