Ehud Olmert is very close to Sharon and supports the disengagement plan which will effectively end all Jewish presence in Gaza, eventually transferring the entire territory over to the Palestinians. Sharon and Olmert are trying to get Rabbi Ovadia Yosef, the spiritual leader of Shas, to support the plan on the Jewish premise that territory can be relinquished to save lives. The Rabbi was promised that the Gaza Strip will be handed over to "pragmatic people."
Olmert has also supported calls to evacuate Jewish communities in Samaria (Northern West Bank).
But of course all this doesn't even come into play when these hateful groups decide to block his visit to South Africa.
UPDATE at 14/10
The Palestine Solidarity Committee have already taken to the streets. Readers will know that the PSC are the group that Jewish Voices SA chose to stand alongside in a recent march against Israel's security barrier.
The South African Palestine Solidarity Committee called upon the South African government to cancel the proposed invitation to Deputy Prime Minister of Apartheid Israel, Ehud Olmert, to visit South Africa. Olmert is scheduled to have talks with state officials, supporters of Apartheid Israel and business people in two weeks time. Olmert's proposed visit comes in the wake of meetings between ten senior Likud Party representatives and South African officials and Cabinet Ministers. According to an official statement the South African government views Olmert's trip as part of 'mediatory' efforts to bring about peace in the Middle East. PSC's scepticism of this intention though is given further credence by a number of press reports which inform them that Olmert's visit is really to seek to "cement economic ties between the states via a protection of investment treaty". Far from promoting peace, Olmert's visit will merely give credibility and legitimacy to Apartheid Israel.
The PSC finds it deeply distressing that South Africa chooses to forge closer ties with the racist and apartheid regime of Israel rather than building international opposition and pressure for peace and justice. The PSC will hold protests on 16th October across South Africa to highlight our solidarity with Palestinians under occupation and in the diaspora and to oppose Olmert's visit to South Africa.
Viva PSC Viva !
Down with the racist Zionist state of Israel.

An Islamic forum linked from the Palestine Solidarity Committe is discussing who was really behind the Sinai blasts and why.
Here is an excerpt from one of the comments
Of course, this does not reflect views held by Muslims, rather it is a single view held by one myopic individual. I only note this because I imagine that Jewish Voices may have changed their minds about marching alongside the PSC, had they seen that this is the sort of material that the PSC links to. Of course, they are not responsible for the views of their readers, but they could see to it that offensive comments are removed.* - replaces an offensive word in the South African context, used by Muslims to describe non-believers.
